Education
School fees, uniforms, books and mentorship — so no child in Obura Ward is sent home from class because the harvest failed or a parent fell ill.
Sponsor a childSome children here carry bricks before they carry books. We exist to change the order of that sentence — school fees paid, water made clean, plates made full, one household at a time.
Who we are
The Henrietta Foundation is a community-based organisation working in Obura Ward, on the Kisumu shore of Lake Victoria. We were started by people who grew up on these same roads — which is why the work begins with a conversation, not a clipboard.
We move with local schools, churches, health volunteers and village elders to find the families who slip through every other net: the child pulled out of Standard Five to work, the household walking two hours for water, the widow with a skill and no capital.
Nothing leaves the county. Every shilling given goes into school fees and uniforms, water points, clinic days, and small businesses that let parents provide for their own — with dignity intact.
Come and see the workWhat we do
School fees, uniforms, books and mentorship — so no child in Obura Ward is sent home from class because the harvest failed or a parent fell ill.
Sponsor a childProtected water points, community clinic days, and support for mothers and under-fives. Clean water is the cheapest medicine we have ever bought.
Fund a clinic daySkills training, table banking and start-up grants for widows and youth — turning a season of aid into a household that no longer needs it.
Back a businessWhere it goes
“They did not bring us a project. They asked what we already had, and then they helped us finish it.”
